Parenting Special Needs

From the desk of a parent of a 16-year-old, special education student, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, developmental delay and a physical disability. This blog is for parents and caregivers of children with special needs, as well as educators and health professionals. Here you will find events in the area, updates to laws, as well as opportunities, with my own personal stories thrown in for heartbreak and encouragement. Have a question? Just ask.

Blonde & Human

Almost two years ago, I had hair colorist change my hair back to its natural color.  Kind of like an ash blonde.  I did so because I just wanted a no maintenance hairdo and I was tired of getting touch ups.

Earlier this year I found several gray hairs on my head and I decided to streak color them.  I went with a golden blonde.  It looked hideous.

I had every intention of not coloring my hair, ever again.  Then, it happened.  There was more gray.  My hair was more of a sunny color and I prefer a surfer color.

Watching TV this weekend I saw an ad for Clairol that promised 3 colors in one bottle.  I thought, maybe that might work.

For $5.97, I went with the naturalest blonde.  Think kind of white.

It's been a long time since my hair was that light.  So, this morning I gave in and colored my hair.  All of it.  Clairol's promise was accurate.  I have 3 variations of blonde on my hair and it is gorgeous!  I almost feel human again.  Which brings me to this question . . .

Why do men, like (Mark Harmon, Sam Elliott and George Clooney) look distinguised and sexy, whereas women end up looking like they can't take care of themselves?  Why do women age with gray but men get better looking with gray?  Is this just another evil outcome of Eve eating that dang apple?
