Former GOP presidential candidate John McCain lent his support. Virginia Beach mayor William D. Sessoms also offered an endorsement.

But Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds couldn't overcome the powerful Philadelphia campaign that made Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino the fans' choice as the final addition to the National League All-Star team.

Victorino received 15.6 million internet votes. San Francisco's Pablo Sandoval was second and Reynolds, a First Colonial graduate, was third.

Detroit's Brandon Inge received 11.8 million votes to earn the AL's final roster spot.
