Friday's VHSCA All-Star football game capsule

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Darling Stadium, Hampton

Directions: Take I-64 West to Exit 267. Turn left on Settlers Landing Road. Go about 1 mile and turn left onto Kecoughtan Road. Stadium is on the right.

South Hampton Roads players: The East team features Ocean Lakes running back Walter Davis (Delaware) and defensive back Greg Ringo (North Carolina Tech), Indian River wide receiver Dravon Poittilo (Norfolk State) and Green Run defensive back Tavon Gatlin (Old Dominion). Poittilo accounted for more than 1,100 yards at quarterback, running back and wide receiver, while Gatlin was the Beach District Defensive Player of the Year and set single-season and career school records for interceptions.

Other players of note: There are nine Virginia Tech signees: Deep Run defensive back Atone Exum, Hermitage wide receiver Theron Norman and defensive end Duan Perez-Means, Bethel defensive end James Gayle, Hampton linebacker Tyrell Wilson on the East; Brookville wide receiver/tight end Logan Thomas, Giles kicker Cody Journell, Bassett lineman Andrew Miller and Liberty lineman Kory Gough on the west. The East quarterbacks are Clover Hill’s Josh Bailey (Yale) and Dinwiddie’s Adam Morgan (VMI), while the West signal-callers are Group A Player of the Year Luke Harris of Floyd County and Trey Gresh, Blacksburg High’s all-time leader passer.
