Regional leaders voted Wednesday to seek federal stimulus money for 11 transportation projects, including the Interstate 564 extension in Norfolk, Lesner Bridge replacement in Virginia Beach and Holland Road widening in Suffolk.
After some debate, the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization approved the list without prioritizing the projects.
Three are designated regional projects and eight are local projects.
Dwight Farmer, executive director of the agency, said federal authorities will evaluate each project on its merit, so they will not be competing directly for the money.
The transportation discretionary grant program, part of the overall federal stimulus package, sets aside $1.5 billion in grants nationwide. No more than 20 percent, or $300 million, will go to a single state.
Hampton Roads' list totals more than $700 million.

Who is tha mathematician?
Ok $1.5 billion nationwide times 20 percent or $300 per state Max per state. And how do we know we will get the Max? Anyway even if Virginia gets the Max, that is only $300 million for the whole state. Who is the mathematician who came up with $700 million for Hampton Roads?
better luck on Santa's list
Wish list ?
Where is all the stimulus package projects we were promised ?
Only 10% have been handed out.
Most of it was suppose to go to roads and bridges. Where is it ?
