CHESAPEAKE

Officers arrested a man from Arizona who was living in the woods near Chesapeake Central Library and had been trying to solicit sex from what he thought was a 13-year-old, police said.

Jesse Lee Wise, 25, of Glendale had been chatting online with an undercover Virginia State Police investigator posing as a teenage girl, said Sgt. Michelle Cotten, a State Police spokeswoman. Wise was arrested at the library - as he was chatting with the undercover investigator - at 11:30 a.m. Friday, she said.

He came to Chesapeake by bus and had been living in the woods behind the library, at 298 Cedar Road, Cotten said. While in Chesapeake, he continued to chat with the undercover investigator and “made arrangements for sexual activity,” she said.

Wise is in custody and will be taken to the Chesapeake jail for booking.
