Mayfield fails another test; Stepmom claims he's used meth for years

NASCAR submitted documents Wednesday stating that Jeremy Mayfield had failed another drug test (this one taken July 6 at his home) for methamphetamine. Even more explosive is what Mayfield's stepmom said in an affidavit. She claims he's been taking meth since 1998 and has witnessed Mayfield doing so.

Here's what she says in her affidavit:

"I was married to Terry Allen Mayfield and Jeremy Mayfield is my stepson. In fact, I married Terry Allen Mayfield in 2003 on the same day, at the same church, and by the same preacher as when Jeremy and Shane Mayfield were married. They were married first and Terry and I were married immediately thereafter.

"I am giving this affidavit concerning my personal knowledge of Jeremy's use of methampetamine. I first saw Jeremy using methamphetamine. I first saw Jeremy using methamphetamine in 1998 at Jeremy's shop on Jackson Road in Mooresville, North Carolina. Jeremy cooked some of his own methamphetamine in his shop by the house until the stores took pseudoephedrine off the shelves. In addition to making methamphetamine for his own use, I am aware that Jeremy has bought methamphetamine from others.

"Between 1998-2005, I am personally aware that Jeremy used methamphetamine often. I was concerned aobut his heavy use and talked to his father about it. I saw Jeremy use methamphetamine by snorting it up his nose at least 30 times during the seven years I was around him. Jermey used methamphetamine not only in my presence, but also when we were both in the presence of others.

"Jeremy told me that he did methamphetamine before the awards ceremony whne he drove for Ray Evernham.

"In 1999, Terry, Jeremy Shana and myself took a trip together to Myrtle Beach the week before the Darlington race. I saw Jermey using methamphetamine in Myrtle Beach. We left Myrtle Beach and travelled to Darlington for the race. I saw Jermey using methamphetamine again when we reached Darlington.''

Jeremy Mayfield denied his stepmother's accusations, telling The Associated Press: "Now they got this lying (expletive) to tell lies about me, someone I am embarrassed even uses the Mayfield name. She's tried everything she can do to get money out of me, I won't help her, so I guess she found a way to get money from NASCAR by giving them an affidavit full of lies.''

Different Type Owners= Different Type Results

If Mayfield was in the NFL or was perhaps a "hokie" he would not be in so much trouble. My guess is that he won't even be able to drive a go-cart once he's done with this.

MAYFIELD

How long does this Meth stay in your system? If the doses were as High as NASCAR has indicated, I would imagine there would still be some there. I don't really believe Jeremy would be so willing and fight so hard just to continue using, all the while knowing he was under a microscope. His attorney also reported the test from the independent lab was negative but the media isn't jumping all over that side of it. If the Step Mother saw this so many times, should she have not said something to officials before this in the name of safety or getting her "Meth Head" son in law help? Seems to me NASCCAR is pulling at lug nuts or sniffing gorilla glue.

Kick him out

If Mayfield has tested postive again for drugs (of any kind) kick him out. There are to many lives on the line during a race to put up with his crazy actions. DUMP HIM, DUMP HIM, DUMP HIM.

PS

I'm inclined to believe Step-Mother!

NASCAR

Mayfield is moving NASCAR closer to Professional Wrestling action. Why doesn't the owners dump this punk drug-head and get a real driver.....one who obeys rule. NASCAR has lost me as a fan and I'm not the only one!!!!

Do you actually follow?

Mayfield IS the owner of his own team, so good luck getting him to "dump" himself. I love when people comment on articles they know nothing about. There's quite a bit of money to be made in NASCAR, and it wouldn't surprise me to find out that either one of the stories is true. Mayfield is trying to salvage his rep and make a living, and his step-mom is trying to get her 5 minutes of fame (sounds like trailer-trash anyway). Pretty sad story, either way.

NASCAR did dump him

NASCAR did suspend Mayfield, but some goofball of a federal judge reinstated him. One can only hope that NASCAR is going to dump him again and again until the judge gets out of the way and actually lets a suspension stand.

Ahhh, stepmothers

How vicious they can be. Unfortunately, the media is always willing to echo whatever they hear. I saw bigfoot once....

hhmmmm

is this NASCAR's attempt to be looked at as a "real" sport? because we know all real sports have drug controversies...but meth is so "white trash". where's the marijuana or cocaine charges? come on NASCAR, step it up!

Done

Sorry Dustin, I now see he failed the second test. As far as I'm concerned, he's done. Too bad to, I was happy for him at the start of the season when he pulled that team together out of fresh air.
