A 29-year-old man died following a shooting in the 500 block of Treasure Court at Woodscape Apartments.
Police were called to the area shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, where they found the man lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper body, said Holly McPherson, a Newport News police spokeswoman. Police identified him Friday as Corey Deon Rogers.
A preliminary investigation indicates the man was with two friends when two unknown men approached them. Rogers and one of the two men got into a fight, a shot was fired and the two men ran from the scene, McPherson said.
Rogers died at a hospital.
