N.J. opposes new trial; murder victim was found in luggage

Posted to: Crime News Norfolk

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.

Prosecutors say a New Jersey woman convicted of killing and dismembering her husband should not get a new trial.

In legal papers filed Thursday with the state Appellate Division, the Attorney General's Office disputes claims by lawyers for Melanie McGuire that a gun she bought before her husband was killed could not have been the murder weapon.

The defense contends that ballistics information from the weapon's manufacturer is inconsistent with markings on bullets found in the victim's body.

McGuire, of Woodbridge, was sentenced to life in prison after a jury convicted her of the 2004 murder.

William McGuire's remains were found in three suitcases in the Chesapeake Bay near Norfolk.

I dont think she did it

A couple of reasons: #1 she couldnt have cut up her husband by herself, and disposed of the body by her self, and left not one drop of forensic evidence save the sheet and suitcase. Where did this crime occur? Where are the tools she used? Where did it happen? One spot of blood please!

Reason #2 is that she was a normal successful hardworking NURSE. Pretty subjective for sure, but my point is she was just too good of a person to not confess had she done this Herculean crime. Just my opinion but, I think you have to be a sociopath to deny your guilt right into prison, and Melanie just isn't a sociopath.
