Obama to stump for Deeds in northern Virginia

Posted to: Elections News Virginia

RICHMOND

President Barack Obama will visit northern Virginia Aug. 6 to campaign for Creigh Deeds, the Democratic nominee for governor.

Obama and Deeds are scheduled to attend a public rally and private fundraiser that day at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner hotel, according to sources within the Deeds campaign.

Earlier this month Vice President Joe Biden visited Virginia to headline a Deeds fundraiser.

Virginia’s election is a focal point because it is one of two states with a gubernatorial contest this year.

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine shoulders some additional responsibility in the race as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

For Republicans, a Virginia victory could inspire a political resurgence nationally. The GOP candidate is former attorney general Bob McDonnell, who previously represented Virginia Beach in the House of Delegates.

Bad move

I think right now with the presidents approval ratings going into the tank, having him politic for Deeds is a bad move. Go Bob McDonald.
