OLF & Senate
North Carolina paper (The Daily Advance) reported the Senate Armed Services Committee voted Against including in the Defense Authorization a provision that would prohibit Navy from considering sites for an OLF in the two NC counties. (Not sure how this applies to the Forbes proposal on the House bill, but it looks like the same langue should apply)
This is just a Committee report, it now goes to the full Senate, I am sure the NC Senators will try to counter.
The paper also reported on a Senator Webb amendment to the OLF langue—“The Navy is required to provide the Armed Services Committee with a detailed report of its conversations with about the OLF with communities in North Carolina and Virginia.”
Next step in Senate, will be full Senate vote then on to conference committee.
While all this is going on, not sure of Navy action, their original schedule was to make was to make some selections this summer.
