Owner of Norfolk TV station fears debt load

Posted to: Business

NEW YORK

Television station owner Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. said Tuesday that it could be forced into bankruptcy if a smaller station operator it does business with defaults on its debt.

Cunningham Broadcasting Corp., which is majority owned by members of Sinclair's founding family, faces a July 31 deadline on $34 million in debt held by three banks.

If the company can't come to terms with its lenders, it could trigger a default at Sinclair as well. Sinclair owns station WTVZ in Norfolk. Sinclair described the situation for analysts in a conference call Tuesday after announcing last week it was in talks to restructure its own debt.

Sinclair -

Sinclair Broadcasting ordered all 62 of its Television affilliate stations around the country to run an anti John Kerry piece on their stations right before the 2004 election. They have been a biased and dishonest network for years and it should surprise no one, that they would renege on their debts in this instance.

This is different than

This is different than Rupert Murdoc and Fox News how? Their on air talent got bonus points for bashing Kerry on air. Things like "flip flopper" seemed to originate from them.

NEWS FLASH. All news sources are biased. Most people have an opinion.

If this is the same Sinclair that owns

radio stations WNIS & WTAR, I find your accusations hard to believe. But even if true, I give them kudos as John Kerry, his politics & shenanigans, needed to be outed.
If it weren't for Bob Sinclair & his excellent radio programming, this Hampton Roads area would be nothing but a podunk full of ingnoramuses (ignorami?) given the unabashed Leftist slant of this area's only "newspaper."

Dennis, I don't agree or

Dennis,

I don't agree or disagree with you, however I think you may be mistaken. Sinclair Communications owns radio stations like WTAR & WNIS. Sinclair Broadcasting Group owns tv stations, like WTVZ.
