Pauley sharp for 7 innings,Tides win with 2 runs in 8th

ALLENTOWN, Pa.

The Norfolk Tides scored two runs in the eighth inning Tuesday night to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 3-1 at Coca-Cola Park.

Brandon Snyder opened the eighth with a double and scored when Lehigh Valley pitcher Kyle Kendrick misplayed Justin Turner's bunt. Turner reached second on the play and later scored on a single by Brandon Pinckney.

David Pauley (6-6) gave up only one run in seven innings of work. That came on Terry Tiffee's solo home run in second inning. Pauley gave up five hits, struck out five, walked none, and lowered his earned run average to 4.11.

Bob McCrory struck out two in the eighth and Alberto Castillo earned his third save of the season, striking out one in the ninth.

The Tides are off today and return home for single games against the Gwinnett Braves on Thursday night and Friday night before heading to Georgia for three more games against Gwinnett.
