Portsmouth School Board re-elects Bridgeford as chairman

PORTSMOUTH

In a unanimous vote Thursday, the School Board re-elected James Bridgeford to a fifth term as board chairman. Bridgeford has served on the board since 1990.

The board also unanimously re-elected Linda Ridenour to a fourth term as vice chairwoman.

Board Clerk Kathy Chambliss and board Deputy Clerk Laura Chandler were also unanimously re-elected to their posts.

The board also discussed a revised policy of how it allocates travel funds. They agreed to vote on the travel policy at an Aug. 27 meeting.

A Little Traveling Music, Sammy

Will someone who is not on the School Board and is not a part of the Portsmouth city government, please explain to me why any member of the School Board needs to travel anywhere outside the city limits at the taxpayers' expense?
