Rep. Forbes' office offers Fall internships

Posted to: News Politics Virginia

College students or recent college graduates can apply for fall internships in U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes' Chesapeake office.

The full- or part-time internships are intended to give students "hands-on experience" working in a local congressional office, Forbes said in a written statement.

The positions are open to all applicants but preference is given to residents of the 4th Congressional District, which includes Chesapeake, Suffolk and a region that stretches to west of Richmond.

Interested students or graduates can send a resume to Kate Griggs in Forbes' office at 505 Independence Pkwy., Lake Center II - Suite 104, Chesapeake, VA 23320.

Applications are due Aug. 14.

Ther is a caveat, though.....

Of course, to be hired as an intern, the applicant must affirm the following passages previously profferred by Mr. Forbes: "Whereas political scientists have documented that the most frequently-cited source in the political period known as The Founding Era was the Bible" and "Whereas the United States Supreme Court has declared throughout the course of our Nation's history that the United States is 'a Christian country', 'a Christian nation', 'a Christian people', 'a religious people whose institutions presuppose a Supreme Being' and that 'we cannot read into the Bill of Rights a philosophy of hostility to religion....'"

These passages are staggering for its sheer volume of falsehoods about our history, our system of government and our democracy. However, if you can buy into this garbage, the job is yours!
