The product: WondaWedge, an inflatable, wedge-shaped pillow with attached mat.
The promise: Tote it to the beach instead of a beach chair. The suede-vinyl surface is comfortable even in the heat, and sand wipes right off!
The allure: We're always looking for ways to make our slothful beach days more comfortable.
The verdict: The WondaWedge is light and easy to transport.
At water's edge, it took a bit of getting used to. First, there are no armrests. We fashioned our beach towel into a makeshift armrest, which meant that the towel got sandy.
The wedge provides good support for reading and people watching, even if it is a bit unstable. For napping, you can slide down so that your head rests against the wedge, but that position proved uncomfortable.
What the wedge does that a classic beach chair doesn't is provide a comfortable way to lie on your stomach. Simply prop your torso up on the wedge and let a little air out until it feels comfortable. And the sand does not stick to it.
The wedge has these two advantages over our favorite beach chair, but that's not enough to sway us.
