Tides pound out 14 hits in victory over Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.

Norfolk's Justin Turner had four hits, including a solo home run, to power the Tides' 14-hit attack Sunday in their 7-1 victory over the Gwinnett Braves.

Turner singled twice and doubled before connecting on a solo blast in the 7th inning, helping the Tides win for the fifth time in the last six games. Steve Torrealba added a three-run homer for Norfolk. It was the first time since May 19 that the Tides connected for multiple homers in a game.

Jolbert Cabrera had three hits, while Brandon Snyder had two hits and two RBIs.

Tides right-hander Andy Mitchell (6-2) allowed one run on two hits in 5 2/3 innings. Jim Miller and Bob McCrory combined for 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief.

The Tides are 5-0 at Gwinnett this season. The teams will conclude their three-game series at 7 tonight.
