Va. Tech, U.Va. recruits help U.S. roll to title

Led by four players bound for Virginia's two Division I football programs, Team USA won the inaugural Junior World Championship in Canton, Ohio, Sunday afternoon, beating Canada 41-3 in the title game.

The Americans dominated the eight-team international tournament. The U.S. beat France and Mexico by a combined 133-0.

Running back David Wilson, who will enroll at Virginia Tech later this month, rushed 33 times for 414 yards and eight touchdowns in the tournament. Wilson also caught four passes for 52 yards.

Five of his scoring runs were at least 25 yards. Wilson was rated the No. 4 running back prospect in the Class of 2009 by Rivals.com.

Tariq Edwards, also bound for Tech, totaled 10 tackles and three sacks - one in each game.

Cornerback Corey Lillard, headed to the University of Virginia, had 11 tackles and two interceptions in three games.

Cavaliers recruit Oday Aboushi played on an offensive line helped the U.S. average 238.7 rushing yards per game.

Ocean Lakes graduate Shamarko Thomas, headed to Syracuse, had three tackles for the U.S. in the title game.
