Virginia Beach UFO club takes off

VIRGINIA BEACH

Mae Burdette knows that when she mentions UFOs and extraterrestrials, her statements often fall on skeptical or even deaf ears.

But at the second meeting of a newly formed UFO Club, Burdette found an audience willing to listen with an open mind.

She told a group of 20 people Wednesday night at the Princess Anne Area Library about her experiences with alien abductions, mysterious men in dark suits and her ability to foresee events, such as a neighbor's house fire.

"The club is about bringing people together and putting their experiences into perspective," said Burdette, 64, who lives in Chesapeake.

Cameron Pack, 25, created the UFO Club so people like Burdette can share their experiences and connect with others who have felt marginalized after speaking about peculiar events.

He began to advertise the club through fliers distributed at local holistic healing stores and in a classified ad. About a dozen people attended that first meeting.

"People have been wanting to have this for a long time," said Pack, a Virginia Beach resident.

Pack, who works part time in retail, is a local field investigator for the Mutual UFO Network. He became interested in UFOs after seeing a triangular object in the sky with many bright lights in 2003.

Pack is passionate about his investigative work. He receives assignments to look into UFOs from his director. He interviews witnesses, collects any evidence and updates the network's nationwide database with a completed report.

Pack carries a briefcase packed with reports, a camera and a field manual on how to conduct inquiries. He is not paid for his work, even though it takes up a lot of his time.

In a little more than a month on the job, he's worked on about 25 cases.

"Cameron is new, but he's very good," said, Susan

Swiatek, the network's state director. "We're glad to have him aboard. He writes well, and he writes copious quantities in his reports."

Most of the sightings are reported directly to Mutual UFO Network on its Web site, but some are forwarded by Virginia Beach police dispatch, a practice that began in the 1970s.

A 1976 letter from the Advance Research of UFO Organization to then-Chief of Police William Davis requested that the Police Department forward UFO sighting reports to the organization.

Shortly after, an internal memo sent to dispatchers instructed them to take reports and then call UFO Central to relay the information.

An officer is rarely sent out to investigate, said Sue Frazier, a dispatch supervisor.

Several dozen reports have come in to dispatch since then, and most people never figure out an object and keep silent, Swiatek said.

"When you experience something like that, what you believe to be alien spacecraft, you really start to question yourself," said Terrell Cope-land, a Marine veteran who reported seeing a huge triangle-shape craft floating over a Suffolk shopping center in 2005. "You're just lost."

Copeland said people aren't open to talking about their experiences because they don't want to strain their relationships with work, family or friends.

"This club was necessary because there's nothing like it in the area," Copeland said.

Wednesday's meeting included a diverse group - 20-somethings, senior citizens, a married couple - and all showed genuine interest in hearing Burdette's experiences.

When a pair of men in dark suits approached her at work in 1973 in downtown Norfolk, Burdette said, they knew her husband, where he worked, how many children she had and other personal information. They questioned her, but she became spooked and asked them to leave. They returned a few days later, she said, and requested that she not tell anyone about them.

"Then I saw the movie 'Men in Black,' and I made the connection," she told the group. "I still don't know who they were to this day, but I knew something was suspicious."

Extraterrestrials & UFO's in Portsmouth.

Hey! I've been seeing Extraterrestrials and UFO's in downtown Portsmouth for years. The Extraterrestrials all sit on the Portsmouth City Council and the Portsmouth City School Board and I have also witnessed UFO lights in the form of dollar bills flying off into outer space from the Portsmouth City Hall Building. The Mutual UFO Network needs to set up shop on this side of the river each month and witness the local holistic experiences we have here in Portsmouth.

Galactic Federation

I have read about the Galactic Federation. This in turn lead me to a book called "Allies of Humanity" written by Marshall Vian Summers. This book sheds alot of light on what the aliens are really doing here. It is not all to our benefit my friend. Sure they may give us technology and ways to save our planet and move into the galactic community and higher collective consciousness, but rest assure they have a hidden agenda to take advantage of our precious resources that exist here on Earth that are very rare and valuable elsewhere. Read the book. Humanity has the ability to develop on our own and move into a galactic community, without the help of alien intervention that intends to take advantage of us. We will be respected much more by doing that.

First Contact

First Contact will occur very soon. It will be preceded by disclosures by the world's governments and by announcements from the Galactic Federation. Many of their ships are already close to Earth and have been for some time. Do not be afraid. Our star brothers come in LOVE and peace. They are not coming here to "rescue" us, but they ARE coming here to assist us. LOVE is the answer. Be One, Be In Joy.

Let's apply Occam's razor..

Let's apply Occam's razor... We can apply it just in our own solar system, since we have the ingredients pretty much confirmed in our own backyard. Who are we to think that we, meaning some form of consciousness, somewhat aware of itself, is the only form of consciousness on the Galactic block? That's silly or one holds the perspective that their own religious belief trumps any possible Universal rules. To think of a demonic presence is a belief system. One commenter stated that she would not go with the MIB if Jesus were not there. In other words, in her belief system she would not trust any other belief system other than what she has been taught. To deviate form some of these belief systems, followers consider deviation as soul possession, evil, corrupt, wicked, etc., What will we think if even a microbial form of life is found on Mars? Will the World still then be flat? Or, the Earth the center of the Universe? That's Mid-EVIL thinking!

To equate a belief in demons

To equate a belief in demons is to believe in a flat earth and medieval (mid-evil to you) is quite an uncalled-for insult. Do you supposedly have such higher state of intelligence and are not groveling in dirt-floor hovels like you seem to think we do? So anyone who shares a viewpoint that doesn't agree with you has merely a "belief system" that is ignorantly taught to them? So you are the holder of the Truth? I keep forgetting what swine does to pearls.

Occam's Razor anyone?

God help us! The people commenting are even wackier than the ones in the article.

UFO-ology is just another name for...

UFO-ology is just a cover for Demonology, as UFO scholar John Keel suggests. He said, “I abandoned the extraterrestrial hypothesis in 1967 when my own field investigations disclosed an astonishing overlap between psychic phenomena and UFOs… The objects and apparitions do not necessarily originate on another planet and may not even exist as permanent constructions of matter." In other words, much of this phenomenon is spiritual...and not so kind to humans.

My mother had an UFO

My mother had an UFO encounter in 1967. She observed strange movements in the sky near Detroit and saw an UFO flying over the neightborhood. That night, she awoke to see two beings at the foot of her bed. She began to float above her body and they told her through thoughts to come with them. My mother asked them "Is Jesus there?" They didn't answer and she repeated the question then said she didn't want to go if Jesus wasn't there. She told them not to bother her or her family again. They immeidately released her soul back to her body and fled out through the walls of the bedroom. I think my mother's experience pretty much agrees with John Keel's assessment of UFOs.

The X Files!

The MIB could have been GOV checking on the husband's security clearance. To believe that humans are the only beings in the universe is naive. Didn't we find methane on Mars earlier this year and the discovery of evidence of water? And, now possibly evidence of water on Saturn's moon Titan? I find it odd that a Vatican esoteric priest stated just last year that it's OK to believe in ETs as they could be God's creation and our galactic cousins. Are the powers that be preparing us for disclosure? If there are ETs, they must be benevolent or we would be gone by now! Google former astronaut Gordon Cooper and read about his UFO brief to the UN. Former astronaut Edgar Mitchell has been on Larry King several times saying the same thing... "We are not alone!" Google the "Disclosure Project" for May 2001, 2007, 2008 at the National Press Club. Many GOV and MIL witnesses have come forward to tell their stories. For a good UFO visual, check YouTube for "NASA Tether" experiment and what appears is a swarm of stunning UFO's swimming in space all around the 12 mile long tether. "The truth is out there." Are we ready for it?
