What comes after morning showers? Afternoon clearing.

Skies should become partly sunny with clearing from the north and west this afternoon. Clouds and showers may linger over North Carolina. Highs today should reach the lower 80s.

After the sun peaks through the clouds today, the UV index will shoot up to 10.

The is a low risk of rip currents and average wave height in the surf zone is expected to be near 2 feet.

Tonight, clearing will continue and we will likely enjoy several days with near normal temperatures and partly to mostly sunny skies.

Temperatures will warm as we head to the weekend. Highs by Saturday should climb in to the lower 90s. There is a low risk of a stray shower or storm in the middle  to late part of the work week. Isolated to scattered showers or storms will be more likely next Sunday.
