WEATHER: Chance of rain in Hampton Roads on Sunday

Posted to: News Weather

By CRAIG MOELLER

Saturday night was perfect for most of the Fourth of July celebrations and fireworks displays. Now, Mother Nature may provide a few of her own. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Sunday and likely by Sunday evening. Temperatures will be a bit cooler Sunday, maxing out near 80 degrees.

Showers or storms may linger into Monday but after that, the weather should be more peaceful for several days. Temperatures will also rise next week with highs climbing to near 90 degrees by next Saturday.

With variably to mostly cloudy skies expected Sunday and the threat of wet weather, the UV index is low at 2. The average wave height in the surf zone should be about 2 feet. Water temperatures are still running 74 to 78 degrees near Virginia Beach.
