If you were wondering where longtime local TV news anchor and reporter Les Smith landed, here's a clue: Ask which turnpike exit.
Smith joined News 12 New Jersey last month as a reporter in its Trenton bureau, a human-resources official there said. News 12 is a 24-hour news channel owned by Cablevision Systems Corp.
Smith had worked at WAVY-TV 10 for 22 years before resigning in April 2007. He joined WTKR News Channel 3 in April 2008 but left two months later.
Neither departure was explained, though his exit from WTKR came amid a reshuffling of high-level personnel to boost ratings.

The last sentence is misleading. Les's departure, which was his choice, came several months before the mentioned shuffling of anchors. Wish Les the beat. Hope the 3rd time is a charm for him.
HEADLINE IS CORRECT
Lets say Brett Favre plays for the Green Bay Packers for 15 years and then goes to the New York Jets for one year. If Favre decides to retire after his year with the Jets, the headline should read "Jets' Favre Retires." If he unretires, it's up in the air...but what are the odds on that?
Philip Walzer of Virginian Pilot
You should re-write the title of your article. Very misleading title. We are in a recession, not good to get too many complaints.
Misleading Headline Slamming WTKR
Should have read 'veteran newscaster'...
Wrong headline
Les Smith was at WAVY-10 for 22 years and WTKR-3 for a few weeks. His time at WAVY should have been recognized in the headline.
