Yet another reason to love Dave Matthews Band

You know this here dingy, dimly lit block of the Interneezy is often fun and games but to get serious for a minute: this economic crisis has rendered many people unable to put food on the table for themselves and their children. Even more frightening, lots of food pantries are running low.
So our cold, cynical and unemotive heart softened just a little teeny bit upon reading that, for the Dave Matthews Band show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater next Friday, the band has partnered with Foodbank and Live Nation to do a food drive. Read on for details. This is a great cause, and a great act of compassion and kindness so easy for the band (and you) to do that will help people in need. Well played DMB!

Dave Matthews Band Helps Sing for Local’s Supper – Responds to Call to Action
Food Drive to Benefit the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia
Norfolk, VA – With Foodbank shelves severely low, the Dave Matthews Band is stepping up to help by offering a pair of front row seat tickets and a pair of “meet and greet” passes to their August 7th concert at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater. Fans are asked to donate a can or two of food to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia to enter the drawing.
Donations may be made at numerous remote sites sponsored by local radio stations, which you will have the chance to win lawn tickets, as well as at the Amphitheater’s administration office during normal business hours or go to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, drop off a canned item, and register through August 6th. Winner will be notified the morning of August 7th.
