Police have arrested a 19-year-old Norfolk resident in the death of a toddler.
Jermaine Dean Morgan of the 6500 block of Pasteur Court in Norfolk was arrested Wednesday and charged with second degree murder, police announced today. He is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility without bond.
On the evening of July 31, a mother brought her son, 2-year-old Jordan Ferebee, to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters for treatment for blunt force trauma to his abdomen, according to a news release. He died of his injuries, and an autopsy ruled the death a homicide.
Morgan is a friend of the child’s mother, according to the release. The child, a Norfolk resident, was injured at a home in the 900 block of Wolfpack Court in Virginia Beach, according to the release.
Police declined to provide additional details about how the child was injured.
