NORFOLK
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will be in Norfolk today to announce stimulus fund awards for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The announcement will be made at 11:15 a.m. at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center adjacent to Nauticus, a release from the U.S. Department of Commerce says.
The funds are expected to be used to map the seafloor, collect data in coastal areas and update nautical charts of the Chesapeake Bay and other areas along the Atlantic and Pacific and in the Gulf of Mexico, the release says.
The fund will create jobs and help support safe marine commerce and trade, the release says.
U.S. Rep. Bobby Scott, Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim and officials from NOAA also are expected to attend.

everyone....hurry.....hurry Run to the federal, state, or local websites that hire for government jobs. I'm sure they just posted thousands and thousands of openings to get this "shovel" project rolling and filled up with new employees.

It'll create jobs until the money is gone. Nothing permanent. That's what is so very wrong with the Stimulus bill. It does absolutely nothing to help create long term jobs in the private sector. What a waste.
