Posted to: News Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH

Aerial spraying for mosquitoes will be conducted Saturday over Craney Island and along wetlands areas in Churchland.

The mosquito larvicide treatment will cover about 500 acres and is a joint effort of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Portsmouth.

A granular mosquito larvicide product that specifically targets developing mosquito larvae will be used that is not harmful to humans or animals, according to an Army Corps of Engineers news release.

In case of inclement weather, the spray operations will take place Sunday. For more information, call the city’s mosquito hot line at 393-8666.
