Good-bye 'Reading Rainbow'; 'Hills' star tased

Dear readers,

I know I'm going to extremes here today. I have to explain. I love "Reading Rainbow," and so do millions of others around the world. I don't love Joe Francis, and no one else does either.

Love,
Cube Candy

'Reading Rainbow' ends 26-year run
"Reading Rainbow" comes to the end of its 26-year run on today; it has won more than two-dozen Emmys, and is the third longest-running children's show in PBS history — outlasted only by "Sesame Street" and "Mister Rogers." What is LeVar Burton going to do now?! Maybe another "Roots"? A part in the next "Star Trek"? I love Geordi!

Hills star tased during fight with 'Girls Gone Wild' founder
Brody Jenner - who is regularly featured on "The Hills" but might be better know to older readers as the son of Olympic champion Bruce Jenner - got tased this morning during a fight with Joe Francis, the man behind "Girls Gone Wild." The allegations: When Brody's Playboy playmate girlfriend Jayde Nicole grew tired of Joe's aggressive come-on tactics, she threw a drink in his face. Joe took offense, and he punched her in the face, threw her to the ground and began hitting kicking her, allegedly. Brody yelled Joe, and the two were kicked out of the club. Somewhere along the line Brody threw a punch at Joe's face. After that, Brody got tased. Who knows what will happen next, but Cube hopes Joe Francis gets his. The man has a bad reputation for the way he treats women and people in general.

QUICK HITS

-- Larura Linney set for offbeat comedy pilot about cancer: Linney is taking on a role in a Showtime comedy pilot called "The C Word." (Can't they come up with a better title? This is way too "The L Word" for me.) The show is about a woman who is diagnosed with cancer. Sounds like a barrel of laughs. (AP)

-- 'Wizards of Waverly Place' transforms into movie: Did I just hear a bunch of little girls squealing? Don't get too excited it's a TV movie, but there's a chance to meet the show's stars at a convention in September. Now you kids can squeal. (AP)

-- “Project Runway” Season 6 Episode 2 Recap: WSJ blogger Dawn Fallik is using baseball metaphors to describe 'Project Runway.' She's right: This can't be good. Although I hear Rebecca Romijn was looking beautiful with her baby belly and all. (WSJ Blogs)

-- Fun with Flickr photos! Need help figuring out if you're a "lady of the night"? This sign posted on Flickr may help you. Apparently, security can help you defirentiate between being just plain slutty and working for the money:
