Hamilton scrubbed from state GOP site
Talk about your cold shoulders.
Virginia Republican Party leaders have bumped Del. Phillip Hamilton, R-Newport News, off a House of Delegates candidate list on the state GOP Web site.
The removal comes during the same week that party chairman Pat Mullins joined the chorus of officials calling for Hamilton's resignation as details emerged about the circumstances of his hiring at Old Dominion University.
Records obtained by The Virginian-Pilot showed that Hamilton negotiated a $40,000 a year job for himself at an ODU teaching center he obtained state funds for in 2007. As news of the arrangement became public, Hamilton ended his employment at the school.
The longtime legislator is running for re-election this year and faces an ethics investigation into his actions.
