Uh oh: The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore is coming to Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach could get 12 inches of snow, and Cantore plans to cover it from the Oceanfront.

Officials are encouraging residents to stay off the roads since the storm will likely bring treacherous driving conditions — especially for commuters Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

A "significant" winter storm is moving into the area Wednesday and Thursday, prompting closures throughout the region.

Hampton Roads doesn't get many winter storms like the one that is predicted to begin Wednesday morning. So as the forecast became more dire, a small army of people spent Tuesday getting ready for something we haven't seen in years.
