SUFFOLK

The second meeting of a panel reviewing the July 2 closure of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Old Dominion University's Virginia Modeling and Simulation Center, Room 2100A, 1030 University Blvd., Suffolk. Portions of the panel's discussions involving tunnel infrastructure may be closed to the public for security reasons.

In the wake of the incident on July 2, when the westbound lanes were closed to traffic for most of the day because a water main burst and flooded the tunnel, the 11-member panel of experts will provide recommendations to state highway leaders regarding policies and procedures for tunnel operations, technology and management.

The third and last meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 10.
