Sheriff Vickers issues warning to Kyle
Brian Vickers, called the sheriff by former teammate Jimmie Johnson, was not afraid to speak his mind about Kyle Busch a week after their confrontation after the Nationwide race at Michigan.
Vickers repeated some of the same things he said at Michigan -- he'll race Busch the way Busch races him -- but added about Busch: "If you want to call it strike one or strike two, but either way he's out of strikes. It's definitely in the memory banks.''
Vickers is speaking his mind but also providing a message that with a spot in the Chase for him (or Busch) that this is not the time to be messing with each other on the track.
As for the sheriff name? Let Johnson explain:
"We were out a friend's ranch in Texas and Brian got into the whole cowboy thing and was enjoying it and showed up with one of the biggest guns known to mankind,'' Johnson said. "I'm not even sure what it was. This revolver. All we were shooting at was a couple of cans out in the field and he's got this big, old guy ... it was like a Dirty Harry gun.''

ODDS AND ENDS
# Jay Frye, VP and General Manager at Red Bull Racing, says the team is looking for improvement out of Scott Speed.
"We're getting into phase two of (his development) where we're going to race tracks for a second time and, obviously, we need to see an improvement from the first races.''
# Frye also said that that the team is "working through a lot of different scenarios'' with Toyota. There's been talk that Red Bull might switch from Toyota to Chevrolet after this season and be aligned as a satellite team to Hendrick Motorsports.
# Mark Martin said he tried to pick up the spirits of crew chief Alan Gustafson "right away and Monday morning'' after Martin ran out of fuel at Michigan, lost several spots and now is in danger of falling out of the top 12. "He was doing much better on Tuesday.''
