A 40-year-old Suffolk man pleaded guilty in Circuit Court today to nine counts of abusing a 13-year-old girl over eight months last year.
Michael Theriault will face sentencing Nov. 20 for two counts of producing child pornography, four counts of aggravated sexual battery and three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
The incidents happened between April and December of 2008, according to court testimony. FBI agents who helped with the investigation of the case found pictures of the girl taken by Theriault on his computer, said prosecutor Nicole Belote.
The assault happened at a house on Nansemond Parkway. In letters written from Western Tidewater Regional Jail to the girl’s mother, Theriault indicated he was wrong and that he “needed a beating,” Belote said.
Theriault could be facing up to 90 years in prison.
