Battlefield 21, #3 Lake Taylor 7
The host Bobcats from Haymarket used the passing of Bo Revell and turnovers to end Lake Taylor’s streak at 26 consecutive regular-season victories Thursday night in the season opener for both teams.
Battlefield bunched all of its points in the second half to notch its 20th consecutive regular-season victory.
Revell threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns as the victors rallied from a 7-0 deficit.
Kevin Swofford’s 34-yard pass to Mario Rowson gave the Titans a 7-0 lead in the second quarter.
The Bobcats pulled to within 7-6 on a 39-yard Revell touchdown pass early in the third quarter. Lake Taylor fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the victors recovered on the Titans’ 7.
Nagel Jackson ran for the decisive touchdown on the next play.
Lake Taylor amassed 256 total yards to Battlefield’s 173 but committed three turnovers and had a touchdown pass nullified on an offensive interference call.
The Titans hadn’t lost in the regular season since a 13-0 setback to Maury on Sept. 22, 2006.
Swofford passed for 154 yards and Nick Oliver added 97 on the ground for the Titans.
