Beach to get new series of country concerts

Bill Douthat of Whisper Concerts in Virginia Beach is starting a country music venture that should delight the boot-skootin’ crowd.

At Sharx, 21st Street at Pacific Avenue, Whisper will produce a series of concerts starting Oct. 2, with locals Tailgate Down, and Oct. 3 with Randy Houser, whose “Boots On” is the No. 5 country single.

Douthat said he will transform the sports bar into a concert venue for the best local bands and the nation’s hottest country up-andcomers.

The acts should be just the right size for a place that can hold up to 500 folks. Other dates: Her & Kings Country with Dave Cynar, Oct. 9, 10; Carter Twins and JessAlicia, Oct. 16; David Nail and Stealing Angels, Oct. 17; and Justin Moore, Nov. 14.
