Horse found tied to tree in Suffolk euthanized this morning

Posted to: News Suffolk

An emaciated horse found tied to a tree in Suffolk over the weekend was euthanized this morning because of its condition, a city spokeswoman said.

The horse was one of four plus a pony discovered tied on short leashes in the woods in the 1400 block of Wilroy Road on Saturday with no access to food. At least one bucket of water had been placed nearby.

The property owner did not own the animals, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The surviving animals are being cared for by Animal Control at a stable in Suffolk.

No charges have been filed. Police continue to investigate.

Very Sad Indeed

It's very sad indeed that this has happened to a helpless animal who can't help themselves. The owner of the property as well as the owner of the horses should be held accountable for this inconsiderate action. This had to be going on for sometime. You can only imagine that they couldn't defend themselves against the flies either. You won't be able to count on animal control to punish them because they won't.

Suffolk horses

The best thing to do, once the responsible parties have been convicted, would be to tie them to trees with no food or water until their condition resembles that of these poor animals.

Personally

I think the person who did this should be tied to a tree and left to die just he did the horses. All he'll get will be a slap on the wrist and a stern "stop that now". Savages---how can we call ourselves civilized when we allow such things to happen to creatures who can't defend themselves?

Disgusting!

There is no other word to describe this but, DISGUSTING! I hope these people are found and get what's coming to them, which won't be enough punishment if you ask me. Seriously, what kind of world are we living in?

animal crime

It sure seems like there's a lot of this kind of inhumane treatment being reported now. Sooo many SICK people out in the world today and just seems to be getting worse. They need to be caught, tried, jailed and then forgotten, not a mere slap on the wrist. This stuff MUST stop, animals today, it'll be YOU tomorrow! These "people" are SICK!!

I agree that they must be caught and tried...

...but not "jailed". Instead, they should be tied to a tree, with a "bucket of water placed close by" (but obviously not close enough to drink from) and left until they become as equally emaciated as their horse became.

i agree - people are sick

and seem to use the excuse of poor economy for not caring for pets, children, etc. I say, if one can feed themselves they can feed their children/pets. NO EXCUSES. If you can't feed them you need to dig ditches, flip burgers or something.

Probably Some Good Ole Boys Done That

Gosh darn these are probably the same "good ole boys" that done this to them horses, that run deer with them dare dogs during hunting season (and call it hunting), and the ones that fly that darn confederate flag on there pick-up truck.....One thing about that there confederate flag is "it's not hate, it's our stupidity"

Go Get Them

You know who is responsible Now go get them charge them with the crime that they are responsible for and hopefully the Judge will throw the book at them and not just slap there hand and say don't do again. These people need hard labor for a long time.

Wish

It is my absolute wish that those responsible for leaving these helpless creatures to fend for themselves are found, and will never see the light of day again. Yes, I truly feel this way.

too bad...

the person who neglected, starved and tied these horses can't be euthanized.
