McDonnell scores more biz backing
The list of business groups that have endorsed Bob McDonnell grew today when the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce's political action committee threw its support to the Republican gubernatorial candidate.
McDonnell received the nod Friday morning during a local news conference.
The candidate will spend much of the day campaigning in South Hampton Roads, no doubt touting his support from business groups as evidence that he is best equipped to lead Virginia out of the recession.
Earlier this week, McDonnell was endorsed by the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce PAC.

Much Disappointment
Thank you for very accurately pointing out that the endorsement was not from the HRCC itself, but from a much smaller sub group of donors who choose to give political contributions through a political action committee. When the regional board of the Chamber was informed of the PAC's endorsement, there was a lively discussion about the dissonance between the Chamber's Legisative Package, which lists support for transportation funding as its first priority, and the endorsement of McDonnell, who has a plan based upon using money from the General Fund to support transportation, which the Chamber has not endorsed. Same for the endorsement of Bob Purkey who chairs House Finance, the committee where new funding bills for transportation are sent to die. The PAC clearly is not considering the Chamber's Legislative priorities in making its endorsements, and many members of the Board were disappointed about that.
