No. 10 Booker T. Wash. 26, Warwick 20

Dionte Edwards totaled three touchdowns, including the winning 4-yard plunge with 25 seconds remaining, to lift the Bookers (2-0) at Todd Stadium on Saturday.

Lamonte Williams’ 37-yard TD run had given Warwick (1-1) its first lead at 20-19 with less than six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of a back-and-forth game.

Edwards hauled in a 39-yard scoring pass from quarterback Dominique Marsh and added a 3-yard touchdown run to help his team stake a 13-7 first-quarter lead.

Marsh then connected with Donte Capers on an 11-yard TD pass in the second as Booker T. Washington built a 19-13 lead at the break.

Woodside 29, No. 8 Maury 12

Marquis Frazier accounted for two touchdowns and Woodside (2-0) benefited from three big plays en route to victory at Todd Stadium.

Darryl Waters had given the Commodores (2-1) a touchdown lead with a 3-yard dive in the second quarter before the victors answered with 29 straight points.

Frazier had an 88-yard kickoff return for a TD and then scored on an 11-yard run for Woodside, which led 15-6 at the half.

In the fourth quarter, Majique Key recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a score and Jarrell Cooper had a 60-yard punt return for another.

“We shot ourselves in the foot with mistakes. But the good thing is they’re correctable mistakes and we’re looking forward to next week,” said Commodores coach John Quinerly, whose team lost 3 of 5 fumbles and was penalized 11 times for 87 yards.

Ryan Lee capped the scoring for Maury with a 39-yard TD dash with three seconds remaining. He finished with 42 yards rushing on four carries.

Commodores quarterback Keenan Lambert was 5 of 13 for 52 yards and contributed on defense with a pair of interceptions.

Jamal Parker made three catches for 135 yards and scored two touchdowns as the Bruins (1-1) rolled at Darling Stadium.

Rijo Walker made three catches for 77 yards and a touchdown and he ran back the second-half kickoff 85 yards for a score for the victors, who led 27-0 after the first quarter and 48-0 at the half.

Bethel totaled 374 yards of offense on 31 plays.

A running clock was in effect for the entire second half.

Quarterback Seth Good connected with Scott Hyland on two scoring strikes as Liberty Christian (2-1) routed host Seahawks.

Desmond Rice added two rushing touchdowns and Dave Rocco ran for a score and threw for another for the winners.

Atlantic Shores (2-1), the defending Virginia Independent Schools Division II state champion, had won its previous 11 games.
