Posted to: Environment News North Carolina

Two swimming advisories were lifted today for sites in Dare County, N.C.

A soundside advisory was posted at the Southern Shores private soundside access on Sept. 10, and an oceanside advisory was posted at the bath house on The Woods Road in Kitty Hawk on Sept. 11.

Water tests show that bacteria levels have dropped back below the state and Environmental Protection Agency’s standards set for swimming and water play, according to a news release from the North Carolina Division of Environmental Health.

The North Carolina Recreational Water Quality Program samples 240 coastal sites throughout the state on a weekly basis from April through October.
