A 13-year-old boy was shot in Portsmouth on Friday afternoon. Police have charged a 20-year-old man in the shooting.
Police were called at 1:15 p.m. to the 1500 block of Lansing Ave. The teen’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said. The boy was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.
Keonte M. Key, 20, of the 1600 block of Elm St., has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
At least 16 youths under age 17 have been shot in Portsmouth in the past six months. Four have died.
