Union assists Deeds
Potentially lost in the political shuffle of today's focus on the latest round campaign cash disclosure forms is this item about a union effort on behalf of Democrat Creigh Deeds.
Working America, an arm of the powerful AFL-CIO union federation, recently reported spending $2,641 on field worker costs to build support for Deeds and two House of Delegates candidates in northern Virginia, according to The Virginia Public Access Project.
That's a minor sum (and one that isn't unexpected) compared to the millions raised and spent by Deeds and Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell.
But don't think that someone on the McDonnell campaign -- which has hammered Deeds for his ties to labor groups -- hasn't noticed it.
On that note, the state GOP organized a Tuesday afternoon conference call featuring several Virginia Republican congressman who said Deeds should state his views on a number of federal proposals.
Legislation that would make it easer for workers to unionize was one of the topics covered on the call.
And since we're on the subject of themes we've heard before, here's the latest Web video from Virginia Democrats.
The 105 second clip attacks McDonnell for what party officials contend is the Republican's pattern of refusing to answer questions about his record.

Deeds comment
Oh please.....$2600. Business PACs spend that on finger food. What you're implying is that if business groups give Deeds more money than the labor folks do, then he will be a pawn for business interests. I don't think so. It is all a big scoreboard my friend, and if you want access, you have to pay to play. We've got the best government money can buy and no party nor support group is more/less guilty than the next. You have committed the intended error, focus on the candidates instead. If campaign support/contributions sicken you, then work to remove it all from the electoral system.
And Don't Forget the Pilot Editorial Staff....
Having the Unions and ACORN on his team speaks volumns about who Mr. Deeds will be obligated to if he wins this election.
