Police identify victim from Chesapeake car crash

CHESAPEAKE

A 29-year-old woman has died after being ejected from a car during a crash late Friday. Police identified her as Katie Young of the 3900 block of Rainbow Drive in Virginia Beach.

Approximately 11:10 p.m., Chesapeake police responded to Mount Pleasant Road and Stadium Drive for a crash involving two vehicles, said Officer Dorienne Boykin, a spokeswoman. According to a preliminary investigation, it appears a Buick was driving east on Mount Pleasant Road when a Honda attempted to cross the road on Stadium Drive, she said. The Honda struck the Buick, which had the right of way, Boykin said.

Young, a passenger in the Honda, was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected. She died at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The drivers of the vehicles suffered minor injures, police said. Charges may be filed against the Honda's driver, Boykin said.
