ALBANY, N.Y.

Brandon Bochenski stretched his goal-scoring streak to three games, but that was the only offense the Norfolk Admirals could muster as they fell 3-1 to the Albany River Rats on Wednesday night at the Times-Union Center.

The Admirals (1-3-0-0) outshot the River Rats 18-6 in the opening frame and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Radek Smolenak set up the goal by pinning the puck into the Albany zone in the right corner before feeding it to Ryan Craig behind the net.

Craig then sent a perfect feed toward the slot, and Bochenski one-timed it from the top of the crease past Justin Peters at 12:42. The goal was Bochenski's third of the season.

Albany (3-1-0-0) took control in the second period, though, outshooting the Admirals 17-11 and outscoring them 2-0. The River Rats tied the game at 1 at 7:18 when Steven Goertzen sent a shot past Norfolk netminder Jaroslav Janus.

Albany took a 2-1 lead when Stefan Chaput sent a shot past Janus at 12:53.

Norfolk sent nine shots on Peters in the final period but couldn't score. Jerome Samson iced the game with an empty-net goal with 29 seconds left. Janus took the loss in his professional debut.

Norfolk's next game is 7:30 p.m. Friday at Syracuse.
