Bassin Day 2 ... the ladies flip flop

Barbara Gaskins and Monica Altman traded places in the co-angler division of the Women's Bassmaster Tour Championship after the second day of competition.

Gaskins, of Suffolk, led Altman, of Angier N.C., by 2 pounds, 2 ounces after the first day on Cypress Blac k Bayou Lake in Louisiana. But Altman made a huge move on Day 2 and heads into Sunday's final round with a sizeable lead. Altman has 20-11 and Gaskins has 16-0. Luckily for Gaskins, she holds a 5-12 lead over third place - making this essentially a two-woman race.

Gaskins is the defending co-angler champ and finished second in the inaugural championship two years ago.

Judy Wong of Louisiana has basically locked up the professional title. She remained in first place after Day 2 and has an 8-11 lead over second place.

In the men's Professional Angler's Association championship on Lake Conroe in Texas, Rick Morris of Virginia Beach and Lake Gaston is basically finished after entering the event as the No. 5 seed.

Morris was in 36th place after Day 1 and dropped with 45th after Saturday. David Dudley of Lynchburg and Manteo moved up from 33rd to 25th place, but also is essentially out of the running for a win.

Sunday is the last day in both competitions and it looks like Gaskins is going to need one heck of a day to repeat as women's amateur national champion.

We'll be back Sunday evening to let you know how it goes.
