Why should citizens vote for you?

These are challenging times in Virginia, and to find solutions to the challenges we face we have to be led by leaders who have the experience to get the job done and the right vision for the future of our state. I have both.

I have served as lieutenant governor for the past four years. I served in the state Senate for 10 years before that. I have developed a record of working with Republicans and Democrats to get things done in Richmond. That’s the kind of leadership we need to find solutions to the challenges facing our state.

I also have the right vision for the future of Virginia, a vision that focuses on the things that matter most – creating jobs, restoring fiscal integrity to state government, and improving education, transportation and health care. Why should citizens vote for you?

As treasurer and secretary of finance, I worked across party lines to help balance the budget, maintain Virginia’s AAA credit rating and create nearly 200,000 new jobs, while making historic investments in education and job training. This work resulted in Virginia being named the “best state for business” and “best managed state.”

As a small-business owner in Virginia Beach, creating jobs will be my highest priority as lieutenant governor. I will continue to invest in public education to ensure our children are ready for the 21st century workforce.

Additionally, I’ll bring Democrats and Republicans together to find a bipartisan solution to our long-term transportation issues so that we can continue to grow the economy on the south side of Hampton Roads and make sure the port in Hampton Roads can be successful. Virginia needs a lieutenant governor who will put principles over politics and get the results our families need.
