Landstown 37, Salem 6
Larry Joshua ran for a touchdown and threw for two more as the host Eagles (5-2) racked up 31 unanswered points at the Sportsplex.
Joshua put the victors on the board with a 15-yard scamper in the first quarter, but Salem’s Divante Walker leveled the score at 6-6 on a 9-yard TD run with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.
Leonard Brickhouse then had a 70-yard return on the ensuing kickoff to set up a 34-yard field goal by Clayton Newton.
Joshua flung a 23-yard scoring pass to Jeremiah Brent in the third quarter and found Cameron Bolton on a 42-yard TD toss in the fourth.
Salem (4-4) punted on its two third-quarter possessions and turned the ball over on three straight times in the fourth, including a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown by Brickhouse.
The SunDevils, who were led by Walker’s 82 rushing yards on 13 carries, were limited to 92 total offensive yards.

Churchland 27, No. 5 Norcom 26
Lineman Ali Scott stopped Norcom’s Demontray Ryland at the 1 on an overtime conversion run to lead the visiting Truckers (4-3, 3-1) in an Eastern District upset.
The previously unbeaten Greyhounds (6-1, 3-1) fell into a tie with Churchland, Maury and Lake Taylor for the district lead. Maury handed Lake Taylor its first district loss Thursday.
Churchland’s Jocorey Robins scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard run on the first overtime possession after forcing the extra period on a 1-yard score with 1:53 left.
Robins accounted for all four touchdowns, including a 40-yard fumble return.

No. 1 Oscar Smith 48, No. 10 Lakeland 13
Phillip Sims threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns as the visiting Tigers (7-0, 6-0) rolled in a Southeastern District match-up.
Sims, who raised his career total to 79 TD passes, needs just two more to pass former Great Bridge standout Casey Turner and become South Hampton Roads’ career leader.
Sims hooked up with Charlie Ricks on scoring passes of 4 and 28 yards in the first half for the Tigers. Ricks also finished with three interceptions and returned one 30 yards for a TD.
Lakeland (5-2, 4-2) was limited to 22 total yards in the second half before quarterback Walter Boykins heaved a 67-yard scoring pass to Anaquan Peterson with eight minutes remaining.

Tracy Williams had a pair of short TD runs in the third quarter as the Comets (2-5, 1-3) took advantage of two Wilson punting mistakes and picked up their first Eastern District victory at Powhatan Field.
A bad snap by the Presidents (2-5, 0-4) gave Granby the ball at the Wilson 4. Granby then blocked the second punt attempt and retrieved the ball at the Presidents’ 2.

Stephen Sims carried the Pilots to their second straight win, rushing for 183 yards and four touchdowns – three before halftime – on 31 attempts.
The Pilots (2-5, 2-2 Eastern District) kept quarterback Dominique Marsh in check until he threw a scoring pass late in the fourth quarter.
Nansemond River 14, Hickory 13
The Warriors (1-6) snapped a 13-game losing streak, scoring after recovering a high snap on a punt attempt and adding a TD on Bernard Jennings’ 46-yard scamper.
The Hawks (2-5) lost their fifth straight game.
Kellam 14, First Colonial 7
The Knights (4-4) limited First Colonial to 2 total yards and Trent Martin kicked two field goals in a Beach District game.
First Colonial (5-2) got its only score on a fumble return after a muffed punt.
K.J. Florence (9-43 rushing) scored the game’s only offensive touchdown.
Western Branch 41, Indian River 0
Leondre Walker ran for 178 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries and the Bruins (3-4, 3-3 Southeastern District) roared to a 35-0 halftime lead on their way to posting a second straight shutout.
Walker scored on runs of 17, 40 and 62 yards for Western Branch, while Vernon Payne returned an interception 40 yards for a score and caught a TD pass.
Cox 21, Tallwood 7
D.J. Dinardo broke open a 7-7 game with a 63-yard touchdown run with 5:01 left in the third quarter as the Falcons moved into a tie with Landstown and First Colonial for second place in the Beach District.
DiNardo finished with 146 all-purpose yards and three TDs for Cox, which rushed for 158 yards.
Nate Driver (17-85 rushing) scored on a 3-yard run for Tallwood (1-6).
Deep Creek 17, King’s Fork 12
The Hornets (4-3, 4-2) scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter to pick up a Southeastern District road victory and hand the Bulldogs their third straight loss.
Nansemond-Suffolk 35, Norfolk Academy 6
Domonique Lennon threw for a touchdown and ran for another to lead the host Saints (5-2, 2-1 TCIS).
Lennon hit Josh Todd on a 23-yard scoring strike in the first quarter and then punched in a 1-yard TD for a 14-point halftime lead. Will Crenshaw and Ryan May added scoring runs.
