The sun is shining and this glorified high school football stadium called Ted A. Wright Stadium on the Savannah State campus is promising a fast track today.
Earlier it appeared we might geet a wet one as Old Dominion visits the Tigers. But that's not to be unless something rolls in later.
Wright Stadium offers a tight Bermuda grass playing surface.
* ODU is wearing white tops and blue pants today, a new look.
* It's about 18 minutes to game time.
* The radio broadcast could be entertaining today: Ted Alexander must share his space with the ODU coaches in the same box.
* Defensive end Chris Burnette is sporting a huge cast for this one, designed to protect the broken bone in his hand. Cornerback Ricky Nichols is sporting a much smaller cast on his broken hand.
* ODU traveled with 60 players today. One of them is quarterback Tommy Reamon. If he sees action today, it will most likely be on special teams.
* Marquel Thomas, the wider receiver who hauled in ODU's first-ever touchdown pass, did not make the trip and chances of him applying for a medical redshirt increase. Thomas has an injured right knee that has kept him off the field since the second game.
* Dan Pitts is working out as the No. 2 QB behind Thomas DeMarco these days. Pitts' throws just get better and better in practice and he has surpassed Bobby Cooper on the depth chart.
* ODU's listed starters for today: QB, DeMarco; RB, Jamar Parham; WR, Nick Mayers; WR, Reid Evans; WR, Dorian Jackson; TE, Matt Carrillo; LT, Tobin Cameron; LG, Robbie Duncan; C, Jeremy Hensley; RG, Bryan Morrison; RT, Ryan Jensen. DE, Chad King; N, Chris Burnette; DT, Eddie McClam; DE, Andrew Turner; LB, A.T. Aoelua; LB, Mateus Porter; LB, Mychael McJunkins; DB, T.J. Cowart; SS, Craig Wilkins; FS, Devon Simmons; DB, Markell Wilkins.
