Lieutenant governor candidates agree to debate

After one false start, the candidates for lieutenant governor have agreed to square off in a debate. It'll probably be the only such encounter between Bill Bolling, the Republican incumbent, and Democrat Jody Wagner before the Nov. 3 election.

An earlier scheduled debate was called off when the two candidates couldn't agree on the ground rules.

They've agreed to meet Monday at 7 p.m. in Olin Hall at Roanoke College in Salem. The event is sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association.

It'll be taped by Roanoke TV station WSLS. No word yet on whether it'll be watchable in Hampton Roads.
