The first of my three priorities is to run the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office in a consistent and fair manner. As chief tax assessor, the Commissioner must safeguard taxpayer’s rights. The second is to be accountable and responsive to Norfolk taxpayers, helping them understand their tax liability and be a resource for them. The third is to fairly and accurately classify each business, and if a discrepancy is discovered, work diligently to correct it.This allows for a healthy business climate, a climate that creates trust and contributes to our ability to attract new business.

My focus for this Office is the same as it was when I was first elected: I continue to look for ways to enhance the operational efficiency of my office and I steadfastly ensure that we maintain a well trained, professional staff with a strong orientation toward customer service. I plan to implement a portal allowing for secured taxpayer access to their respective tax accounts. Additionally, I will work to expand the number of customers served through the DMV Select program of my office and to ensure that eligible seniors receive maximum advantage from our Real Estate Tax Relief program.
