CHESAPEAKE
Police have identified a man who was shot and killed Monday night in the 1400 block of Oliver Ave. and have charged a man in connection with the death.
About 9:30 p.m. Monday, emergency dispatchers received several calls about shots heard in the area, police said in a news release Tuesday. When officers arrived, they found Michael Henry Callender Jr., 22, between two houses and suffering from a gunshot wound. Callender, of the 800 block of Park Row, was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police charged Dominique Lavon Collins, 18, with murder and using a gun during a felony, according to the news release. Collins, of the 1700 block of Oakdale Way, was being held in the Chesapeake Correctional Center.
