WILKES-BARRE, Pa.
Dustin Tokarski made 30 saves as the Norfolk Admirals won their fourth straight road game for the first time in nearly five years, and evened their season record at 6-6-0-0 with a 2-1 victory Friday over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (5-4-1-1) at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
The Admirals jumped to a 1-0 lead early on the power play. Paul Szczechura entered the attacking zone and feathered a pass to the slot that was collected by Mark Parrish, who netted his second goal of the season at 2:00.
Norfolk's lead doubled late in the opening period. Martins Karsums cut across the ice from the left circle to the right edge of the slot before firing a shot at Penguins goalie John Curry. The rebound landed in the slot and Matt Syroczynski recorded his first career AHL goal when he knocked the puck into the net between Curry's legs at 16:11.
After a scoreless second period, the Penguins came out with a vengeance, out-shooting the Admirals 17-7 in the final frame.
They drew within a goal after pulling Curry for the extra attacker with 1:50 left to play.
Luca Caputi collected a rebound of a wide shot in the left corner and centered it to the slot where Ryan Bayda scored.
Tokarski earned his fifth win of the season.
Norfolk was 1 of 3 on the power play, while Wilkes-Barre/Scranton failed to convert three chances.
The Admirals travel to Syracuse tonight.

poor coverage
Why is it when the Admirals are not winning we have an article each game? They won three games this week and we only have one!! what happened to Monday and Tuesday game highlights? Frustrating when the local paper doesn't keep up with our team.
