Coast Guard crews search for missing Canadian boater

Posted to: Military Norfolk

PORTSMOUTH

The U.S. Coast Guard says aircraft crews are searching for a Canadian boater who is overdue for arrival in Bermuda.

The 67-year-old man left Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Nov. 9 and was expected to arrive in Bermuda on Monday. He wasn't identified.

The Coast Guard said today that the man's sailboat, Mon Pays, is reported to have flares, personal flotation devices, a VHF radio and an 8-foot white dinghy. It doesn't have an electronic position indicating radio beacon.

Air searches by the U.S. and Canadian coast guards are being conducted between Halifax and Bermuda. The searches are being coordinated by the Rescue Coordination Center Norfolk.
